Push Your Limits...

In my opinion, the most glorious of God's many lovely creations is the human body.

Our internal physical intricacies are infinitely unfathomable, try though we may.  Our body's astounding gifts and developable talents are stunning to behold, whether in ourselves as we acquire a new sports skill or as we watch some gymnast or ballerina - or perhaps your favorite Olympic snowboarder - do things with their bodies that we can't comprehend.  And even then, we know that someday somebody will exceed even these high points.  For the time being, however, some suggestions, some for doing, some for watching:

Ice Bath!

OK - This is billed as "Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet" and is really not for everybody.  After all, how many events do you have to sign a death waiver before you are allowed to participate?  It consists of a 13 mile run with maybe 25 obstacles designed by the Special Forces.  For starters, here is a picture of some nice young lady in the ice cube immersion event, quaintly called the "Chernobyl Jacuzzi."

But see for yourself if you have what it takes!  Check out the video on the Tough Mudder website - most of which was filmed at our event at Squaw Valley last year - and think about joining us at the Tough Mudder at Northstar-at-Tahoe this September.

Check out the ToughMudder website, and contact me about joining our team!

Krav Maga Worldwide

Krav Maga is the Israeli Army's system of close quarter hand-to-hand combat, and has become popular with military and law enforcement organizations throughout the world.  Learn about Krav Maga here from the national organization.  If you're looking for an aggressive, violent, offensive method of self-preservation and physical conditioning, this is it.  Check out the website at Krav Maga Worldwide.

And then think about joining us at Krav Maga Walnut Creek, which is associated with Krav Maga Worldwide, at the studio just across the street from my office.  Call to discuss!

 San Francisco Ballet

Ballet.  There's no life that can't be made happier by listening to lovely music while watching people do lovely things, yes?  Nicole and I delight to be subscribers at the San Francisco Ballet.  It's glorious!  Hear, would you, what others say about the dance:

Dancers are the athletes of God.  -Albert Einstein-
Dancing can reveal all the mystery that music conceals.  -Mikhail Baryshnikov-
Ballet's image of perfection is fashioned amid a milieu of wracked bodies, fevered imaginations, Balkan intrigue and sulfurous hatreds where anything is likely, and dancers know it.  -Shana Alexander-
Put a man and a girl on stage and there is already a story; a man and two girls, there's already a plot.   -George Balanchine-
And finally:
The body is the source of amazing energy. This thing wants to live. It is a powerful engine. The brain (is) a reservoir of images, dreams, fears, associations, language. And its potential we can't even begin to understand. Movement begins to negotiate the distance between the brain and the body and it can be surprising what we learn about each other.  -Bill T. Jones-

That being the case, the only thing left for you to do is spend a lovely evening at the San Francisco Ballet!  Or, at least, click on and enjoy the videos!  You'll see some stunning stuff.  Makes me feel kinda clumsy, but that's OK.

One more:

If I could tell you what it meant, there would be no point dancing it. -Isadora Duncan-
